What is position sizing?
Position sizing decides how many shares or F&O lots you trade so a stop-loss hit only costs a fixed fraction of your capital—often 0.5%–2% per trade for retail traders in India.
This calculator divides your rupee risk budget by the distance from entry to stop-loss, then optionally rounds down to the nearest NSE lot size.
How to use this tool
Enter total trading capital (not necessarily full net worth), the % you are willing to lose if the stop hits, your planned entry, and stop-loss price.
For index or stock F&O, enable lot sizing and enter the contract lot (e.g. Nifty 25) so quantity aligns with exchange minimums.
Compare position value with available margin in your broker app before placing orders—especially for delivery and overnight F&O.
